How much should I pay for a local move in Chicago?

Price will vary

The price of your move is based on location, distance, weight, type of items and time it takes to relocate. Local, short-distance moves cost less than long-distance moves outside of the Chicagoland area. Moving from Naperville to Plainfield is going to cost less than moving from the West Loop to Schaumburg. Get a free quote from our team, and we can help you decide the best choice for your next move. How long does it take to move locally in the Chicagoland area?

All moves are unique, so it really depends on your relocation needs to determine how long your move should take and how many guys we will deploy come move day. We prefer to jump on a 10–15-minute call to capture all the specific details while learning about your relocation needs.

INFORMATION NEEDED TO PROVIDE YOU WITH AN ACCURATE ESTIMATE:

- Origin and Destination Addresses?
- Where can we park the truck at both locations?
- Are these stairs or elevators involved?
- How much furniture and boxes are we moving?
- Would we be performing any packing services?
- Do you have any specialty items such as but not limited to a Piano, Grandfather clock, Safe, Complex Workout Equipment?
- Do you have any fragile items that require extra care such as but not limited to glass, marble, antique items?
- There are peak moving dates as well that vary the price a bit so we need to know your desired move date?

What is considered a local move?

According to the Illinois Movers’ and Warehousemen’s Association and the Illinois Commerce Commission, a Move is considered a Local Move if it adheres to the following criteria:

- If the Origin and Destination addresses are within 35 air miles
- If the Move Begins and Ends within the Collar counties, it is also considered a local move. The Collar counties include all the counties with a population of a million or more. Currently that consists of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties.
- Local Moves are charged hourly based on the time it takes to complete your move.
- If a Move travels over 35 air miles and does not Begin and End within the 7 collar counties, then it is calculated based on the Weight of the load and the Miles traveled.
